Explorations in Direct Metal Sculpture
August 25 – October 1, 2011
Come enjoy and celebrate the artwork of sculptor Deidre Selig, a local artist who graduated from Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and has been sculpting for over 30 years. She has won numerous prizes throughout the region and her work can be found in private collections throughout the United States. Deidre is an art educator in the Marple Newtown School District. This show is a culmination of her artwork in steel, in which she explores the creative possibilities inherent in welded metal sculpture. Her metal sculpture is innovative, playful and captures a feeling of lightness. Her artistic creations primarily focus on interpreting portraits and figures using steel rod to give the impression of “drawing in space”. Deidre uses screens, bas-reliefs and true 3-D sculptures to give life to her artistic expressions.Top of page: Deidre Selig, Garden Composition
