Introductory Jewelry
with Vi Hutchinson
A twelve (12) session class
No class on 3/29
Students will learn the basics of metalworking. The course will cover fabrication, soldering, finishing, and safety procedures. Students will leave with one finished pin and one bezel-set ring.
Goals
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
• Understand sawing and piercing as visual elements.
• Perform a variety of hot and cold connections.
• Understand texturing and patinas as a method of altering metal.
Provided Materials:
Ring band wire
Silver sheet
Fine silver bezel wire
3×3” Copper
2×2” Brass
Saw blades
Students Will Need to Bring:
Dust mask
Extra fine point sharpie
Safety glasses
A cabochon of their choice (about 0.5 to 1.5”)
