2002 National Spring Open Juried Exhibition

Wayne Art Center is honored to have Barbara Wolanin jury the 2002 National Spring Open Juried Exhibition. Dr. Barbara Wolanin holds a Ph.D. in art history from the University of Wisconsin in Madison and master’s degrees from Oberlin College and Harvard University. She majored in Studio Art at Oberlin College and taught art for a time. She was an assistant professor of art history at James Madison University and Trinity College, Washington, D.C. Since 1985, she has been Curator for the Architect of the Capitol, caring for the works of art and historical records and overseeing art conservation, research, and exhibitions. She has published exhibition catalogues, article, and reviews in Art in America and elsewhere. He book on the nineteeth-century muralist Constantino Brumidi was published for the Congress in 1998. She is an expert on the Philadelphia artist, Arthur B. Carles and authored exhibition catalogues on him in 1983 and 2000 and one on his student Quita Brodhead in 2001. From 1998 through 2001, she was President of the Washington area chapter of the Women’s Caucus for Art.
She has previously juried exhibitions for the Maryland Federation of Art, Gallery West, The Art League of Virginia, Potomac Valley Watercolorists, the Pennsylvania State Museum, Williamsburg, James Madison University Sawhill Gallery, and national and regional exhibitions for the Women’s Caucus for Art.
