2004 National Spring Open Juried Exhibition

Wayne Art Center is honored to have Juliet Wilson Bareau jury the 2004 National Spring Open Juried Exhibition. Juliet Wilson-Bareau is an independent art historian based in London. She is a specialist in Spanish and French art, particularly Goya, Manet and Vuillard and the primary author of the exhibition catalog, “Manet and the Sea,” (which will be at the Philadelphia Museum of Art from February 15 – May 30). She has organized many other exhibitions, including: “Manet and the American Civil War,” (seen at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York in 2003); “Goya: Drawings from His Private Albums” (Hayward Gallery, London, 2001) and “Manet. The Execution of Maximilian: Painting, Politics and Censorship” (National Gallery, London, 1992).
Ms. Wilson-Bareau studied at London’s Courtauld Institute of Art. From 1979 to 1981 was curator of drawings at the Henry Moore Foundation and for the following ten years was researcher for the catalogue raisonné of works by Vuillard. She has published articles and reviews in The Burlington Magazine, Print Quarterly, La revue de l’art, etc and currently is preparing an exhibition of paintings by Boudin.
