Attraction to Abstraction 2023

Exhibition Reception and Juror’s Talk: December 19, 2023  4:30-6:30pm

Wayne Art Center is pleased to present an exhibition of large abstract paintings by our adult students and WAC community members in Attraction to Abstraction 2023. This exhibition will hang in the Vidinghoff Lobby and WAC Lobby Galleries during CraftForms and The CraftForms Companion Show.

Juror of Selection: Marianne Mitchell

Marianne Mitchell earned a BFA in painting from Washington University in Saint Louis, with post-graduate work in Japan, China, and at the Vermont Studio Center. A Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation Fellowship recipient, Mitchell has shown work nationally in New York, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Santa Monica, San Francisco, Denver, and internationally in Scotland and Germany. Her work hangs in many important collections including The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, Pew Charitable Trust, and Sloan Kettering Cancer Research Center. The artist’s paintings are held in private collections across the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia. 

A lifelong Philadelphian, Mitchell and her husband lived in Denver, Colorado from 2011 to 2019 at which time they returned to the Philadelphia-area and now reside in a historic Pennsylvania farmhouse. She is the founder/owner of Whole Artist Mastery.
