Tropical Garden: Artwork from Timothy School Students
February 13 – March 11, 2023
Tropical Garden features recent projects created by students from the Timothy School.
Wayne Art Center is proud to collaborate with the Timothy School in Berwyn to provide studio art classes tailored to students who have autism and pervasive developmental disorder, a developmental disability that affects social interaction, behavior and communication. Beloved by students and faculty alike, the Timothy School provides an excellent outlet for students’ creativity and expression.
The Timothy School is the oldest non-profit approved private school in Pennsylvania devoted exclusively to teaching students with autism. For over 50 years, the Timothy School has worked to develop an understanding of autism that recognizes the strengths and uniqueness of children and the specialized methods needed to expand their educational opportunities.
Wayne Art Center thanks instructor Shannon Wolsky for her work with these creative students! Shannon holds a degree in Art Education from Millersville University and has been the instructor for Wayne Art Center’s program with The Timothy School for seven years. About the program Shannon shares “Over the years, this program has become a staple for the students and teachers in the school. Many of our students love to paint. The step by step process is a helpful stepping stone for the students to learn sequence and outcome. We hope to keep creating and immersing ourselves in the arts for years to come!”
